Greg DeWeerd

Designer + Trail Guide

The first time you meet Greg, you might think he’s shy. While he is someone who spends a long time thinking before saying, when you get to know him, Greg is full of intricate philosophies on both the minutiae and the big questions in life, strongly held opinions on pop culture, and witty comebacks. He’s truly invested in learning who people are and what makes them tick, which makes him an excellent designer and marketing whiz.

Coming to Northbound after seven years as marketing director at Freedom Net, Greg has added a thoughtfulness to our process we never knew we were missing. His spirit animal, the bat — representing initiation — couldn’t be more fitting. A few years ago, he had the initiative to head back to school and get a design degree from Kendall. He found his passion for helping people and making things as a designer a few years later than some, but we’re sure glad he did.

When he’s not making things or playing devil’s advocate at the studio, he’s taking his wife, two boys, and pup on adventures like camping or hiking. Or maybe he’s at home playing retro video games.
